Pinkham Jr Wins Again in the 500's, Shaw Wins 600's

Posted 2017-06-11 at 23:46

The O'Reilly Auto Parts Granite State Mini Sprint Club returned to The Legion Speedway for the Second time this season and provided plenty of action for the fans.

The 500cc Main Event hit the track first with Keisha Boisssoneau and Peter Belliveau leading the field to the Green flag. At the drop of the green Peter Belliveau in his #76 bolted to the top spot, a position he held until the races only yellow flew for the #47 of Eddie Puffingburger headed the wrong way in turn four with three laps complete. Evidently the #46 of Tyler Vickery played a part in Puffinburger's spin as he was placed on the rear for the restart. On the restart the #48 of Ed Vickery nosed into the lead for a lap before the #54 of the high flying Willie Pinkham Jr., who started in the tenth position, took command of the event. By the halfway point of the Feature the top three were Willie Pinkham Jr, Peter Belliveau and the #51 of Riley Chaffee. While the top three remained the same Tyler Vickery was on a charge from the rear, picking off positions one by one and moved into fourth with fourteen laps of the 20 lap affair complete, but the gap was too big to advance any farther. At the drop of the Checkers it was Willie Pinkham Jr with the win, his second of the season. Peter Belliveau was second with Riley Chaffee third. Tyler Vickery was fourth with the #71 of Owen Carbee fifth.

The 600cc Feature found the #18 Dick Lamotte jump into the lead from the pole position. The first Feature Race caution of the season flew with one lap complete as the #14 of Zach Herbert, making a return to competition after a number of years off, spun in turn one. When the race resumed Lamotte led another lap before the #15 of Kyle Belliveau rocketed to the front, leading through the race's next caution for another Herbert spin, this time in turn four. When the green flag flew again the #15 of Belliveau suffered a mechanical failure and didn't come up to speed, causing the yellow immediately fly again. Belliveau's night was finished as he was pushed to the pits. Former 600cc Champion Tony Shaw in his #20 inherited the lead with Belliveau's demise, leading the rest of the way to take his first win of the season. Lamotte finished a season best with Herbert making a late race pass to finish third. Adam Cunningham and Drew Eldridge completed the top five.

Heat Race wins went to Willie Pinkham Jr and Eddie Puffinburger in the 500cc's with Kyle Belliveau winning the 600cc Heat.

The next event on the calendar for the O'Reilly Auto Parts Granite State Mini Sprints is this Friday, June 16th, once again at The Legion Speedway in Wentworth, NH. For more information please log onto www.GraniteStateMiniSprint.com.
