The Advanced Auto Parts Granite State Mini Sprint Club made their first appearance of the season at Bear Ridge Speedway Saturday Night with a fine field of cars and provided plenty of action for the fans.

The 500cc Main Event hit the track first with Eric Relation and Tom Chaffee firing from the front row with the #45 of Relation taking the lead at the drop of the green. The #51 of Riley Chaffee quickly moved by his father Tom Chaffee in the #1 to take the second spot with Tom Chaffee settling into third. The running order remained the same until the red flag flew for the #60 of Dustin Lamotte, who did a quick flip exiting turn four and ended up against the wall. Lamotte was uninjured in the incident but the same cannot be said about his #60. When racing resumed Relation would retain the lead but the father and son duo swapped spots with Tom Chaffee back in second and Riley dropping to third. While the racing continued the #46 of Tyler Vickery coasted to a stop in the infield and the #05 of Josh Boissoneau headed to the pits. While the lead trio sped around the track the action behind them was intense with the #24 of Joe Kemp, the #17 of Matt Calley and the #96 of Matt Collins all vying for the fourth spot. The race stayed green the rest of the way with Eric Relation taking the win, Tom Chaffee was second with Riley Chaffee third. Matt Collins and Joe Kemp rounded out the top five.

The 600cc Feature found Zach Herbert in the #14 jump to the lead at the start of the race with Drew Eldridge in the #7 second in his first start of the season. With just one lap complete the yellow flew for Rich Crooker in the #21 as he lost a right front wheel, coming to rest in turns three and four. When racing resumed it was only green for two more laps before the #17 of Tyler Jones and Drew Eldridge both had problems. Jones was done for the day but Eldridge was able to continue. When the green flew once again Zach Herbert took the lead and began to steadily pull away from the rest of the field. The #29 of Mark Wiggett ran second and the #20 of Tony Shaw cruised in third. With the race green the rest of the way Herbert took the dominating win. It was a very satisfying win for the team as due to mechanical gremlins they had not finished a race this season. Mark Wiggett finished a season best second with Tony Shaw third. Drew Eldridge was fourth and the #78 of Keith Brown finished fifth after starting last on the field.

Heat Race wins went to William Pinkham Sr and Tom Chaffee in the 500cc's with Zach Herbert winning the 600cc Heat.

The next event on the calendar for the O’Reilly Auto Parts Granite State Mini Sprints is this Friday, June 15th at The Legion Speedway in Wentworth, NH. For more information please log onto www.GraniteStateMiniSprint.com.
